THE PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE GRANDE ECOLE PROGRAM

UNDERGRADUATE CYCLE

Year 1

The orientation seminar and your participation in our student clubs and societies will offer you an insight into project management.  Working in a group under time constraints to achieve an objective is a real challenge.  It will enable you to develop a range of professional competencies such as, interpersonal skills, creativity, listening skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.  The first-year business placement will be your first contact with the world of work, during which you’ll start developing your negotiation skills.  The placement experience will also be the opportunity to practice your sales techniques, and will allow you to develop your understanding of a sector of activity whilst exploring the world of work and building up your professional network.

  • Sales and customer relations placement (2 to 3 months)

Year 2

The second-year business placement is designed to enable you to discover the sales and/or marketing functions of a business organisation.  Thanks to the methods and tools acquired at Business School, your host company will give you specific assignments to do and increase your level of responsibility as you progress, meaning you’ll become increasingly autonomous in your work and develop the confidence to take new initiatives.  We’ll ask you to draft a sales portfolio helping you to gain a deep understanding of your company and enabling you to make concrete recommendations.  Finally, you’ll take part in the annual Négociales student sales challenge, which will put your negotiation techniques to the test in a quasi-real-world context.  The challenge is also an amazing opportunity for you to build up your professional network.

  • Sales or marketing placement (3 to 4 months)

Year 3

In year 3, the intensity of your professional and international experiences will accelerate in parallel since they are closely linked to each other in terms of the course learning objectives.  You’ll also carry out an export development project, enabling you to enhance your skills in strategic decision making, marketing analysis and international project management.

  • International business placement (3 to 4 months)

MASTERS CYCLE

Year 4

In year 4 you’ll work in project management mode, producing strategic recommendations for our partner companies and taking on increasing business responsibilities.  During your business placement or work-study scheme, you’ll have opportunities to acquire expertise in a specific sector of activity whilst developing know-how and skills that will be invaluable for your future employability. ICD is not just any ordinary business school.  Today, I think it stands out from the others thanks to a specific set of values that we find throughout the programme.  Above all, the school offers us a real human adventure made up of a wide variety of rewarding encounters and experiences that are designed to broaden our horizons, understand and accept others more easily and think differently.  But it’s also a school with a true human dimension.  There is a friendly atmosphere on campus and the professors and support staff really care about the students.  Also, the international aspect of the programme has allowed me to experience a different culture.  I’ve got only happy memories of these experiences, which in the end have helped me to acquire new knowledge, to grow, and to transform the vision I had of the unknown.
