PATRICIA SUN, 4TH YEAR STUDENT IN THE GRANDE ECOLE PROGRAM AND THE FRANCO-CHINESE COURSE

Introduce yourself!

My name is Patricia SUN. I am a 4th year student at the ICD Business School Paris. I follow the Franco-Chinese course of the Grande Ecole Program. I am an exchange student (online) with Fudan University and a communication/marketing assistant in the Chinese market at my own school.

Why did you choose ICD Business School Paris for your graduate studies? What did you take away from it?

I chose the ICD Business School initially, for the multiple experiences abroad. Even before going to ICD, we had the opportunity to go to Japan for a Kick-Off, followed by a semester in Dublin and other exchange semesters afterwards. The second point that attracted me was the possibility of doing internships every year. And finally, I chose the ICD Business School mainly for its Franco-Chinese course. It is the only business school that provides a comprehensive course on learning Chinese language and culture. With 10 hours per week of Chinese lessons in addition to the normal program, and being validated by 2 years in China, in Shanghai, in one of the best universities in China: Fudan University.

What has the international course of the ICD Business School brought you?

Through the international career I have had so far, it has above all brought me open-mindedness and the ability to work as a team. Thanks to the multiple projects carried out in class, internationally and with partner companies, I learned to perform well in a group environment and to work in an intercultural team.

What is your job ? What are the challenges of your job?

I have been in an internship for more than a year at the ICD Business School as a marketing/communication assistant on the Chinese market. I develop and manage the school's communication on Chinese social networks such as Wechat, Little Red Book or Weibo. Every day, I create content in a totally different market than ours, which has its own network, its own communication culture and different centers of interest.

How has ICD Business School prepared you for your professional career?

For a future career in international marketing/communication, it is mainly thanks to the courses of professional speakers and the experiences abroad that taught me to be curious, to try and to learn. My international experiences have also been a great help in learning the languages that are essential today.
Knowing how to speak Chinese, today, is a plus in commerce in general, not to mention English, which is essential.

What skill learned during your journey at ICD Business School is the most useful to you in your professional life?

In my current professional life, my knowledge of social networks and China are the most useful.

Why did you choose France for your professional career?

I chose to work in France because I think the world can't get enough of French products and they have great skills in the international market. Whether it's fashion, gastronomy, wines or tourism, France still has a lot to show, and I would like to do it through communication/marketing on the international market.

What inspires you in your job?

In my current internship, being able to approach another culture through the creation of photo, video and article content is what inspires me.

If you had one piece of advice for our students, what would it be?

Do not hesitate to acquire professional skills through summer jobs, student jobs, internships, work-study programs or gap year. Whenever there is an opportunity, seize it. Learn English and a third language well!
