team story

Anne-Charlotte Olczyk, Education Manager

What is the nature of your work? How do you define the purpose of your job?

I work as an Education Manager. The objective is to coordinate the several programmes that I have been mandated to run (PGE/BDSE/PI), from different angles: the pedagogical ones (planning, recruiting speakers, managing budgets) and also to ensure a high quality follow-up of the students throughout the year, regardless of whether they are attending here at ICD BS or abroad.

How have you chosen to work in this field?

I started out as a graduate clinical psychologist. I began my career in higher education at random, but I find it very appealing, with the idea of guiding students throughout their studies and helping them to progress and improve their skills. At the end of five years, I wanted to see new things, so I became a study manager in the pharmaceutical industry, while continuing to teach marketing courses at the same time. Then I realised that I missed higher education too much, hence my arrival at the ICD in a business school where I think my skills were well suited to the position

What is your daily routine? What is a typical day?

There is no standard working day. In the morning, with Amel FREIFER, my assistant, we must often deal with emergencies (switching courses to distance learning because the teacher is out of contact, for example) and otherwise throughout the day, juggle with the requests of students and teachers while anticipating the months and weeks to come (organising class councils, preparing for the next year)

What do you prefer/like?

I like the fact that at the ICD we are working at high speed, we never have time to feel bored because we are often solicited, and I like to multitask and to do various activities at the same time!

Who are your contacts?

My interlocutors are the management, the IGS group, the professors, my colleagues from the 1st and 2nd cycle, the corporate relations, the international relations, the admissions but most obviously the students

Why do you like working in the educational environment?

I find it very fulfilling to help a student to improve or to guide them in the right direction from a professional point of view.

Do you have any anecdotes or memories that you would like to share?

My favourite memory is the first day of school with the PGE3, which went extremely well, in a good mood, with lots of laughter and a great welcome from them.
