SABINE FRANQUET, INTERNSHIP MANAGER

WHAT IS YOUR JOB? WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF YOUR JOB?

My name is Sabine Franquet and I work in the ICD Business School's corporate relations department as the Internship Manager. My role is to assist students from the Grande Ecole programme and the international MBA and MSc programmes in their search for an internship, work-study programme and job. To this end, I coordinate with my two colleagues Anaïs Reymondon and Marie-Laurence Dutartre various events such as job dating, career conferences, company visits and theme weeks to help students discover different professions and sectors. I am regularly on the move to follow up on internships to meet with tutors. I also take care of the contractual part of the internships by checking that the company respects the legal framework in terms of bonuses, weekly working hours and the content of the assignments in relation to the training.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS PROFESSION?

I graduated from Panthéon Assas with a Master's degree in Economics and Management, specialising in coaching and personal development in companies. I had the opportunity to work in various companies offering training for adults, in particular a customer marketing consultancy and a health magazine for general practitioners. I then had the opportunity to join the IGS group in the educational department where I discovered the exciting world of schools and initial training.

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY ACTIVITY? WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE?

I am lucky enough to have a rich and varied day. I can be in a company meeting to meet HR managers, in a lecture hall with former ICD students for professional conferences, in a meeting with my colleagues from the pedagogical department to plan events or at trade fairs to expand our network. I sometimes spend days on campus receiving students individually, others on external visits with groups of students as part of theme weeks, others with coaches as part of specific workshops on professional integration. I also have an administrative part with the editing of internship agreements or amendments.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE/LIKE BEST?

I love my job. My greatest joy is when the student is recruited in the company of his or her dreams. Whether it's through our network of former graduates, our network of companies or the new contacts we develop at trade fairs, or the company meetings we organise. This is my main objective. I also like to organise events with my close colleagues Anaïs Reymondon and Marie-Laurence Dutartre from the corporate relations department and with the teaching staff, in particular Sabrina Lei who, with me, runs the Business In Europe week for international students (a week dedicated to company visits and career conferences).

WHO DO YOU TALK TO?

Students, parents, graduates, HR managers, company tutors, coaches, educational managers, company relations managers from other schools.

WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING IN THE STUDENT ENVIRONMENT?

To stay in touch with young people! It's always a pleasure to see students grow, both literally and figuratively, to see them gain confidence through internships, company assignments or semesters abroad. It is a source of pride to be able to contribute even a little to this growth.

WHAT MEASURES HAS YOUR DEPARTMENT PUT IN PLACE TO SUPPORT STUDENTS DURING THEIR STUDIES?

In the corporate relations department, we are lucky enough to work with a team of coaches who take part in a programme dedicated to professional integration, "Start me up Career". Students learn how to create a CV, write a cover letter, create a Linkedin profile, cultivate their professional network, approach a recruiter and succeed in an individual or group recruitment interview. In the 5th year, there are specific job search workshops with dedicated modules such as salary negotiation and the intervention of APEC.

DO YOU HAVE A MEMORABLE ANECDOTE OR MEMORY?

I remember a memorable visit to Louis Vuitton on Avenue Montaigne where we were surprised to see the CEO of LVMH, Bernard Arnault. It was one of the most beautiful visits I made with the students. We had the privilege of being welcomed in the VIP lounges to attend a presentation of the history of the brand and to visit the boutique and its backstage with members of staff. A magical experience with the students! I also remember a student who dreamed of doing an internship at Pierre Hermé. He was so motivated that he used Indesign to create a magnificent CV with a background of macaroons of all colours and a font in the letter that reproduced the writing of the logo. He was recruited immediately. Similarly, a student wrote a superb cover letter for Apple in which he explained his love for the brand. The best cover letter I've ever read. I've kept these as examples.
