An unforgettable immersion in Mauritius for our Grande École students
From May to June 2025, more than 250 final-year students in the ICD Paris Grande École program enjoyed an extraordinary international experience: two weeks of learning, discovery and exchange in the heart of Mauritius, accompanied by several ICD Paris employees.

Organized in partnership with UNICITI International Education HUB and Middlesex University Mauritius, this trip aimed to combine academic development with cultural immersion. The program included intensive English classes on the UNICITI campus, delivered by native-speaking instructors whom we warmly thank, along with marketing courses taught by Alexandre Guttman, a lecturer and researcher at ICD Paris.
This trip also gave students the opportunity to prepare for and take the TOEIC exam, a key certification for their international professional journey.
Exploring the Local Economic Landscape
Our students had the chance to visit two major institutions in the Mauritian banking sector: ABC Bank and SBM Bank. These visits helped them better understand the local banking system, the island's openness to international markets, and the economic challenges of a rapidly transforming territory.
Environmental Commitment at Ebony Forest
Beyond academic learning, our students also got involved in environmental protection. Welcomed at the Ebony Forest nature reserve, they took part in a reforestation and conservation mission focused on endemic plant species, while discovering the essential role this reserve plays in preserving Mauritian biodiversity.
Guided by passionate experts, they explored the ecological and cultural history of the island, encountered free-roaming tortoises, and became aware of the importance of protecting endangered species in such a unique ecosystem.
A Cultural and Human Immersion
The richness of Mauritius also revealed itself through its multicultural cuisine, breathtaking landscapes, and the warm interactions with local people. Through hikes, local outings, and moments of sharing, our students experienced the authenticity of a mixed, welcoming, and deeply human territory.
From the moment they arrived, they were immersed in the local atmosphere with an unforgettable Mauritian welcome evening: traditional buffet, Séga performance with musicians and dancers, and even a few dance steps learned enthusiastically!
A Memorable Collective Adventure
This stay will remain a highlight of the PGE program—both academically and personally. It allowed our students to grow in cultural openness, linguistic confidence, and environmental awareness, while creating strong bonds among themselves and with their supervisors.
We extend our sincere thanks to UNICITI, Middlesex University Mauritius, the local teaching teams, instructors, and all ICD Paris staff who were on-site for their guidance and kindness. Special thanks as well to the ICD and Groupe IGENSIA Education teams back in France who worked for months to make this project a success. Finally, thank you to the OPCOs whose funding made this type of trip possible.
An intense, educational, and truly enriching journey that will remain a foundational experience in the international path of our students.
