EDILSON OMAR SISSE, FIRST YEAR MBA BUSINESS AND MARKETING STUDENT

INTRODUCE YOURSELF!

My name is Edilson Omar SISSE. I am 23 years old and I am Senegalese. Ambitious and curious by nature, I am interested in various subjects and I like to learn new things, especially in the field of commerce and entrepreneurship. I have a keen interest in the sales and trade sector. I am naturally very comfortable when it comes to promoting a product, whatever its nature. I have a sense of contact, I like smiling, am dynamic and welcoming. I love traveling, reading and enriching discussions. I am persistent and like to take initiatives. My passion is football, I have been playing it since I was 7 years old.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PARIS FOR YOUR HIGHER STUDIES?

After my literary baccalaureate at the Collège Cardinal Hyacinthe Thiandoum I decided to do the BTS international trade option at the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO) then I did a degree in marketing and business development at the Dakar Business School (Sudeco). Currently, I am a first-year MBA Commerce & Marketing student at ICD Business School in Paris.
Regarding my professional experiences, I started in July 2021 in the entrepreneurship field. I marketed cosmetic products. So to better sell my products I adopted direct marketing and network marketing. I was proud of myself because I achieved the goal I had set for myself, which was to sell 150 products after one month. I did a 2-month internship as a sales representative at Chaussettes Orphelines in order to validate my MBA Commerce & Marketing at ICD Business School, Paris.
Paris has always been the city of my dreams during my childhood, moreover my favorite football club is PSG. I decided to continue my studies in Paris because it is the international city par excellence. Studying in Paris gives the opportunity to get to know different cultures. In addition, the region represents the area of France that employs the most people. A student will have every chance of getting his first professional experience. In addition, the city is full of large libraries where you can find a good working atmosphere to carry out documentary research and find specialized works in the subjects of your diploma.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS ICD BUSINESS SCHOOL PROGRAM?

I chose this program because evolving in the world of business and commerce has always been my wish. This training is for me a way to realize my professional project but also to deepen my knowledge in Commerce and Marketing.

HOW DID YOU FIND ICD BUSINESS SCHOOL? WHAT STEPS HAVE YOU TAKEN TO JOIN US?

I got to know the school through my cousin who lives in France. He told me about it, then I went to do research on the internet and that's when I discovered that the ICD Business School was right for me. I then contacted the admissions department of ICD Paris and had an interview. This is how my application was selected and then, I applied for a visa.

WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT STEP AFTER YOUR STUDIES?

I plan to continue my studies and enroll in a BAC+ 6 program in agri-food, on a work-study program if possible. This will allow me to consolidate my professional experience in France. Later, I would like to work as a sales manager in an agri-food company.

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM ICD BUSINESS SCHOOL?

I’ll keep in mind a school that offers international experiences which are the opportunity for students to live experiences in foreign countries, to experience the culture of the foreign population. Also, its pedagogy is not centered on theory only but on a logic of acquisition of skills, oriented towards companies.

IF YOU HAD ONE ADVICE TO GIVE AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I invite any international student who wishes to continue their studies abroad to choose Paris as their destination and ICD Business School as their school.

DO YOU HAVE AN ANECDOTE OR A MISSING MEMORY?

Stretch mark cream was part of the cosmetic products that I marketed in Senegal. Its application makes stretch marks disappear after 5 days. The first person who bought saw a marked improvement and she then took it upon herself to talk about it around her. I managed to sell 30 bottles after a week without communicating about the product.
